bigcartel store for Guy's prints « Result #7 on Jul 29, 2012, 3:24pm »
I've set up a web-based store front for selling Guy's prints. Normally the site will be updated with a new 'Madmen and English Dogs" print every month but it gets started with three. These are all giclée prints on 96 lb, cold pressed, watercolour paper. The paper size is 200 x 300 mm and the image size 124 x 167 mm. Each is blind-stamped, hand signed and numbered by Guy to a limited edition of 33. They are priced at £33 each. Post and packing anywhere works out at £20 per order.
"The 'Madmen and English Dogs' series is produced in tandem with a piece of writing that I started in the 1990s; the titles and motivation for all the drawings come directly from the text. The subject of the writing is both autobiographical and fictional; sometimes the two are distinct and sometimes they blend to the point where even I begin to wonder if my own memories are perhaps all just an imaginary collection of lies and justifications. Because of this, and also because I like to think I've a few more years left in me yet, the finished written piece will not be released in its entirety until after I have died. It's a personal exposition of my personal strengths and frailties in all areas. It is a history of both me and the time I've lived. Sometimes the images will be illustrative and sometimes they will be symbolic. It will deal with subjects as wildly diverse as our daily lives are. From politics to science, faith to sex, art to sport - everything that has made its influence on me to make me feel the need to record a personal response. The original drawings will remain with me as a personal record; they will not be for sale in my lifetime. The subject for my future paintings will all come from these drawings and they will, as with earlier painted work, be exhibited and available for sale."
I wouldn't bother. It's not authorised, I don't know who the outfit is, it'll be a print from a web image from the Carmichael show a few years ago. If you want to print off my work from internet images and stick 'em on your walls that's all well and good - but don't start giving away your money to some goon that's trying to rip you off. I'll have words with ebay - I'm just letting all know on here too...

New £33 print - second in this series « Result #14 on May 1, 2012, 10:12pm »
Bonj... The second of the current series of three prints will be going live later this week. I'm not saying when as it just adds to the confusion. I'll just shout 'GO' when they're numbered, wrapped and ready. This is 'Charity', following on from 'Faith' sold last month. I know the usual order would suggest 'Hope' to be next - but I changed my mind after they were finished (didn't like 'em - binned 'em), so that'll be the June print.

A small Guy Denning painting available for sale. « Result #38 on Aug 9, 2011, 7:29pm »
A small Guy Denning painting available for sale. Guy has been working on some new techniques and colour mixes. This is available for sale. "(SMOS) Line after line", 14cm x 14cm, oil on canvas board, sold in small box frame, € 550. if interested
On the heels of his highly successful "Inferno" exhibition in Italy earlier this year, Guy Denning presents the second of his three part series of oil paintings on Dante's Commedia in New York City for the aptly titled exhibition, "Purgatorio".
Originally drawing inspiration from Dante's writings, Guy's intention has not been to recreate the poem in a visual or literal sense, but instead let it act as a framework for his own personal interpretation. As with the writing of Shakespeare, Guy finds a perpetual relevance in Dante's work where the specifics of name, situation and place are easily adapted to the modern world; as if time moves on but the problems of humanity remain essentially the same.
The events of September 11th and the emotional toll it took on the American individual is final and critical element to this body of work. Guy suggests that the suffering of America is too often defined by the media in terms of the political rather than the personal, leaving the individual voice of ordinary people sometimes unspoken in the narrative of history. His work sets out to make a small and personal amendment to that omission. Poignantly enough, this exhibition will be held in a NYC 'Pop-Up' location just blocks from Ground Zero and on the 10 Year Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The work, though tied to Dante’s writing will also feature elements of images found on the internet, particularly of people in New York City on that terrible day. Significant press images are also used as reference for Guy's work in hopes that they will be scrutinized that much more intensely than the photos we glance at far too quickly in newsprint. He has also constructed one large landscape painting, in the fashion of the traditional ‘history’ genre, made from connected canvas panels. This oil painting, derived from studying still frame images from amateur video footage, aims to create an assumed and complete narrative of the major elements of the day from a New York perspective.
Guy states that this is a collection of work recognizing the suffering of the American people on September 11th and immediately thereafter - when the United States had the sympathy of the world. He wants it to be viewed as nothing short of respectful to the memories of all those that died and suffered as a result – both in New York and beyond. Guy quotes another English artist William Blake who wrote “Can I see another's woe, and not be in sorrow, too? Can I see another's grief, and not seek for kind relief?” Despite the many cultural differences of the peoples of the world we are all essentially united by our humanity; our common desires, hopes and despairs. It is the ordinary people's common humanity that will take us forward and not politically inspired violence.

Fresh from the studio... to ebay « Result #67 on Mar 15, 2011, 9:58pm »
Hello people... I'm sure you've all been moved by the absolute devastation wrought on the east coast of Japan by the earthquake and tsunami. It's not a lot, but it's better than sitting on my backside doing b-all, so here's something you can all have a go at. There's a drawing up on ebay at the moment. It's a ten day listing. All the money will be going to the Red Cross who are currently raising funds to help alleviate some of the human misery out there. It's not political, it was inspired by a small moment of happiness I witnessed when a kid was found alive in the wreckage left by the tsunami. I've tried to make something that's easy on the eye so that it has a better chance of raising more money. Get bidding and one punter will get something in return. Be generous please - if we can't get physically involved it's about the best we can do. Love you all. Cheers. g Here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/46pxv46

Authentification and Catalogue of Guy's work « Result #96 on Jan 5, 2011, 8:38pm »
Hi I've got some new cataloguing software so that I can build a full database to record the location of Guy's work. There have been issues over the years of work being sold with the incorrect titles, lost, stolen and even forged. If you have work it is in your interest to get it recorded officially with its correct catalogue number (these numbers have already been assigned to our photographic record only). There is also now an increase in numbers of people wanting Certificates of Authenticity and if you bought work without these then following a little check up they can be provided. If any collectors of Guy's work can let me know by email which original artworks they have I can add their details to the database. Contact me directly (all details will be held confidentially and NOT passed on to any third party) Cheers Colleen
