"1998 marks the 50th anniversary of the Nakba (cataclysm). In human terms, that year saw the mass deportation of a million Palestinians from their cities and villages, massacres of civilians, and the razing to the ground of hundreds of Palestinian villages. In commemoration of these capital events in Palestine history, the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center brings you this visual tribute", www.alnakba.org/ [accessed 04-06-2008] Some of the images that may well be an inpiration for this powerful canvas... www.hanini.org/Al-Nakbagallery.htmlThe photo of the girl 2nd row down third along is haunting. www.hanini.org/images/3.jpgAnd this one even more so... www.hanini.org/images/ref2.jpg

Cheers photoxtc. I also like the colour of the Palestinian flag in the lettering; no coincidence there. I detect a great deal of passion in this piece, as with most of GD's work. Just look at those chunks of paint!
