Pre-1992. One of Denning's earliest pieces. I really cannot tell you how lucky I feel having this.

Cheers for that photoxtc. I really appreciate your comments. This one is yet another unforgiving piece that whilst not for everyone's wall, is important to me. It encapsulates what art is about in terms of making you feel something! Anything. A reaction. Bacon and the Micallef charcoals spring to my mind. It's a gem of a piece. To think Denning did this when he was 19-20 years old, like 75 years ago! (Only joking Mr D! ) I would like to say that I bought it from the man himself but that would be a lie. I suspect most of his older pieces were either sold, given away, intentionally burnt, accidentally burnt or destroyed in some other way. In truth, it's taken quite a bit of time to get the last few pieces with much luck involved too. I've found asking the right questions to the right people really does help. As we know there are some wonderful people who appreciate Guy's work. Just look at this forum. Some of whom have seen him through far less prosperous times. It's great to have had some contact with a couple of these people and the chance to see and even buy some of, what I consider to be historic pieces of art, from his substantial body of work. I have still yet to meet him but certainly look forward to getting pissed with GD as well as Mr Aitch and the other regular members at the next show. You never know, I might actually be able to make it this time! ;D

Tut tut scavos! ..you'd best be at the next show or we'll come looking..
Your passion grow's scavos! ..lovely piece, f**king 'dark as you like' and more..I think the scarier pieces (such as this imo) reflect a lot of love and understanding of human feeling and emotion.

Nice to see passion and glad that these pieces are falling into the right hands. I have to agree, passion is something us Denning fans definitely have... You can always tell there is some serious passion when each and every one of us has the Best Denning piece ever painted ;D Can you give us a little insight on this Scavos. it looks like un-streched canvas?? and what medium is used on this?? and Size?? I really can't get enough of this painting, I just love it!

;D I think you win that one photoxtc with your Lilith. This one is actually on paper (although I can see why you thought un-stretched canvas) and I would say conte/charcoal and maybe chalk. I can't stop looking at he head. It's mesmerising!
