FIRST well done to all GD fans who got one of these.
I wanted as we all did a fair and proper chance to get a GD print as promised by RP
I will wait for a flipper to put one on ebay at least i will be sure to get one. Some of them must have done.
Oh and dont hold your breath for the post they have not even sent out the JB prints from the last one yet not until next week???

Other than the Russ Mills reference, that is the same e-mail, word for word, that I recieved after failing to get the James Baker print.
You could have 1000 people all click the "buy" button within a second of it going live, but the real race is to login to Paypal and pay.... the buy button on the RP site is kinda irrelevant in the 'race'.

It's such a shame that this kind of thing happens, unfortunately that's the problem with selling prints on-line through Paypal. I'm not a big fan of the buy now button, but in today's climate it's the easiest way to process on-line transactions I have had to succumb and add the 'Play Print Lottery Now' button on my site, although I preferred to use the age old method of 1st email in got print #1 along with confirmation letter and a link to pay for the print, safe in the knowledge that when they pay they will definitely get the print. Anyone whose email came in after the prints had sold out received an apologetic email to say they were unlucky this time around. OK, so you had to wait 24hours for me to reply, but then in this example some of you have had to do that anyway and had already paid only to be let down (Adjusting the Devils Advocate Titfer) Of course, the other option is if you know there are 1000 people trying to buy a print, why not release 1000? It reduces the flipper market as the collector get the piece they want, and the artist makes a little bit more cash (as does the gallery) Thankfully (sadly) I don't have 1000's of people trying to purchase a print at one time ;D Again, my condolences to those of you who missed out Aitch

bobthecat you're right - it is bad business and bad for the hobby. Taking money when there is no product is wrong. Also I wonder how many had been set aside prior to the 9 oclock start? It's bad etiquette to advertise that 50 are available when in reality some had already gone. I hope the real fans of Byroglyphics don't get screwed over in similar style next time.

I think Red propeller have bent over backwards to help everyone here. The fact that they are offering such wonderful art at such cheap prices is great. They have got themselves into a bind with the promise of priority for the following weeks print, but they are only guilty of trying to help their customers, how many companies can you say that for. They are alright.I don't know if you have seen the latest on the Banksy forum, but Guy Denning has suggested doing another print with one lucky person recieving the original drawing, now if that happens you really could not beat that. Here's to hoping it will happen.

Bit confused here, is this not the Guy Denning forum so why is this new allegedly on another forum? We all have purchased art from RP at a lot more than 25 quid, they don't give it away Yes. We are not moaning for the sake of it! There is a reason and the reasons have been voiced by many members on this forum, Question did you get one ? Let us know BTC

Here is the message that Guy Denning wrote in the Banksy forum, Here's an idea... Obviously I can only speak for myself and not other artists, but I'd be happy to do it. If Red Propeller want to do this again (and repeat the low price print); if the edition was kept to the number of button thumpers for half an hour (or whatever time limit is set) and somehow they could stop people (potential flippers) buying more than one, then I'd let the original drawing go out randomly for one of the buyers instead of the print. And they'd still pay the same twenty five quid. Just an idea. Thrown out there like...

Just trying to throw a positive outlook onto the situation, sorry if that offended anyone.I feel Red Propeller deserve some praise, they don't have to sell quality prints for bugger all.Not many people do these days.

'YOU CAN PLEASE ALL OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME AND SOME OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME BUT YOU CAN NEVER PLEASE ALL THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME'
From the good folk at RP put on the Banksy forum regarding the obvious statements from GD board on the recent issue with prints
Well there you go then, i really don't like having the P*** taken out of me or having the same done to others. Especially when its also put on another F***N board and the balls not to put it on here!!!! There will be 1 more print up for getting the next time for my time with RP is well and truly run. Well PIS*ED

I know how you feel BTC but RP aren't bad, quite the opposite. I've had dealings with Sarah and she is a very nice person, so to David (name right?) I think the popularity of the promotional burger print runs have just caught them out and the paypal automatic system just isn't ideal for this kind of promo/sale.
You have to take your hat off to the fact that the artists and the gallery are putting this together but unfortunately the banksy forum is full to the brim of speculative buyers who will have a go even if they don't like the image/artwork, just to grab a bargain and more likely to try and flip them for a profit.
I have never managed to get a banksy print yet and missed out on something that I wanted badly from a similar style buying system (inside the first minute of sale too) and I think the absolute bargain quality to RP's current offer is going to throw up mass hysteria & disappointment for some.
You never know, one day there may be an offer open only to forum members, who knows.
Guy's latest suggestion is very generous too.

I don't think anyone is pointing the finger at Red Propeller for wanting to offer cheap prints during these hard times - I think the problem lies with the 'Play Print Lottery Now' button.
Surely there must be a way for Paypal to determine when all 50 have been sold and therefore stop taking money from people who will never get the print.
I wonder how much interest they generate in the 24 hours from keeping your money in their account?
As for Guy's suggestion - that just goes to show how much he feels for his collectors. He knows that it's people like us that allow him to do what he loves - and the idea of an edition based on the number of people trying to buy the print is genius and is certainly one way of stopping the flippers.
Guy - I knew there was something about you I liked mate
If I had a forelock mate - I would tug it!

Standards statement regarding "speculative buyers" is spot on, 160 guests in the last 24 hours with 59 online at one time(a world record) What are they after??? As for Guy, what can you say? Probably why we are members!!!!
