Thought you would like to know that an affordable series of prints is on its way - its going to be a boxed set - and a nice touch is going to be an original drawing on the front of each box by Guy Denning himself - will let you all know as soon as it is finalised and when the first print and box will be becoming available.
Also just to say the the 'Dreyfus' print is being sent out tomorrow.

Thanks RP, this sounds fantastic! Will they be a limited run of boxes given that Guy will be including an original sketch? Any idea of numbers?
Also, I noticed some new canvases on the site which have sold immediately.... what were the prices of these? NM

Good news on the box sets.
Slightly disappointed that Dreyfus has already sold, I thought these were going to show before sale.
Are there any others?

Was waiting for Dreyfus to come up for sale but didnt materialise, I think all four on the site are destined for the show and all sold, I think the message is going out that if you want to buy you need to be quick, the way these are going they will all be sold before the show!

Just thinking about the huge interest that Guy is gaining and the speed at which his originals are being snapped up does anybody else think its time for RP to set up a Banksy style raffle?

With all due respect to Guy, he has a long way to go before there is the Banksy-esque rush on the F5 button. Its fantastic news for Guy that his popularity is still high (and increasing) and works are being bought very quickly...and they appear to be selling at the rate they were just before the recession kicked in. Maybe in 12 months, the prices are going to increase again... hopefully, my little GD collection will have increased before they are too expensive.

This is an absolutely fantastic idea.

Think its a great idea, especially being given the chance to own an original for a very modest outlay, the problem I have is I tend not to buy if I have no intention of putting the piece on display and I have no idea how I would display a box full of prints!

We have thought about this and have been talking to Mr Frameman who believe it or not is inventing a system as we speak - as soon as things are finalised you will be the first to know.

A great, commercial idea, yes. Get the customers to frenzy over 9 prints with box when he hasn't seen 8 of them, even with "------" treatment.
EDIT: before you get too riled up, it's fairly obvious why I edited that word out of your post...

I apologise, but I'm still feeling militant.
Why not sell the sketches (that are now glued irreparably to a piece of box), for, say (a bargain price) of 150 each (or 250, or whatever -- i paid a sh*tload more for mine and don't and never will regret it) and be done with? That way you can be sure that each recipient really wanted to buy the piece and appreciates it.
This way you destroy the sketch and saddle your customers with 9 prints which they will probably lock away in a cupboard to gather dust. Or perhaps harbour the hope that Mr. Frameman will come up with a solution that can only display their favourite so that they can flip casually through the rest saying 'these are just addendums/freebies, but I really bought it for this one'.
It's tasteless.
I really hope that some one agrees with me here and that not everyone on this forum buys GD works, or anything in fact that they are not in love with, for the hype.
I might also like a Jeanne d'Arc, but not at the price of 9 wasted prints (or even one!) which will ultimately devalue the power of a GD. Or maybe the idea is to buy them all and redistribute on ebay? In that case, Merry Christmas.
greetings, Nicolette

you sound soooo happy Nicolette... ;D
I tend to think RP and GD will do just fine without that wonderful art marketing plan you came up with...
And just so you know, you're not locked down to anything when you buy this, you have the option to either pay for the whole set in advance or you can buy them as they drop, if you aren't happy with a particular print that month you can just pass on it... pretty simple...
Pretty great concept for anyone that is a Denning collector or admirer... Plus you're getting an original for a pretty d**n good price that is mounted with care and love on a hand designed, painted and signed box from GD... Kind of hard to complain too much on this one eh?

Well Nicolette, I must admit to agreeing with a certain amount you are saying as some of your thoughts were mine as well, but generally speaking Guy and RP do a fantastic job and if you feel you couldnt live with a Denning original glued to a box for an incredibly low price then feel free to spend a few grand on a beautiful oil on canvas and you will be eternally happy! I personally will not be indulging in this venture as I can not see any positive method of displaying them !

I agree it's a fabulous price (although I didn't realise GD was into charity) and in the light of the morning I wish those who are planning to buy much happiness with their purchase.
I guess my main issue is the glue: personally I have a deep love for his preparatory drawings, and I feel that they have been defaced and devalued by this action. In fact, the asking price now is the probably the price they are worth, a fact which I find a terrible pity.
photoxtc and rp: my apologies for the "--------" redfred: i do hope to be eternally happy one day :)

Good post flickabix, certainly livened up the forum for a short while! I think most people will sympathise with your dislike of glueing prints or OG's to any form of backing but I still feel that any venture that promotes Guy's incredible work has got to be applauded. Keep posting the odd curved ball, why should the Banksy Forum have all the fun!!

Hi flickabix... You certainly are passionate about this issue seeing as you created an account especially for it :-)
I can appreciate your comments about glueing the sketches to a box and I fear that in time, the sketch will peel away and potentially discolour the paper... however, that depends a lot on what product Guy has used and the method of framing the piece. As for the additional prints, well, thats your call whether you buy them or not as no-one is forcing you to buy the full set in advance.
With regards to the displaying of a box, I very much doubt those who bought the box pieces by Adam Neate a few years ago are complaining having seen many sell for over £1500. Most (if not all) are opened flat and mounted like that.
I, for one, will be collecting the set because I am a fan, I love 90% of all his work and this is a rare oppertunity to obtain so much art for an incredibly low price. You can spend more than £35+VAT in Ikea for an uninspired load of cheap tatty "art".

Indeed, I didn't feel prompted to speak until now :)
Perhaps this is the difference between myself and most here: I only love 10% of GDs work, so I would be stupidly excited if 100 preparatory drawings were laid out as is by RP, from which I could choose. Perhaps I just feel left out.

So let me get this straight Flickabix... you registered an account on this forum specifically to complain about the way RP and Guy are releasing a set of prints which you don't intend to buy and admit that you're basically not a fan of Guys work. You have clearly wasted at least half an hour of your life.... or are you BobtheCat in disguise? Either way, rather pathetic and sad.

NM please don't get me wrong: I'm a huge fan of GDs work and have been watching him (and this forum) for years. I truly think that all his work is excellent, but that it's only 10% that I *love* and would buy, and hang on my wall - I don't think anyone can fault me for that.
I don't think I'm wasting my time and I do hope I'm not wasting yours.

Bob the Cat... my comment was a tongue in cheek joke really for the old members. He was a member who critisised people who 'flipped' prints and was a self confessed fan... he then went on to slag off members as well as RP and left the forum due to his unpopularity for being a complete d1ckhead. I then noticed that this so called 'true guy denning fan' was trying to sell ALL his prints on ebay at hugely marked up prices to cash in on the increasing popularity of Guy.
Welcome to the forum by the way flick but negative comments don't go down too well here... much like the Banksy forum which I left cos that place is riddled with complete ****'s. This place is very friendly tho!!!

Thanks for the welcome - that does my heart good. I shall try to be more subtle next time with my criticisms (which, believe it or not are really few and far between). And I shall certainly do my best to avoid the title of "d1ckhead' ;D Glad too that it seems that I've survived the (self induced I admit) baptism by fire.
