okay my knowledge of the 'creation' of art is limited to say the least..so can someone explain to me what a preparatory sketch is...and why they're being sold? Are they simply to feed demand?
Just seems strange that pieces that are work up until the finalised pieces - are being sold?

I'm assuming a preparatory sketch is a test piece that allows the artist to check colours, medium, and scale etc. before work on the larger piece begins
I think it is - but I'm no artist ;D

i'd heard that rumour . yeah I started it ;D I think the preparatory sketches are cool as we get to see what Guy is currently working on. But personally, I'm after the canvas or whatever the original happens to be on

What concerns me with these preparatory artworks which have tape etc, is what to do with them when the tape starts peeling off. I think these works will be a nightmare to keep in mint/ original condition.

i emailed red propeller re preparatppry works and got the following reply.
The preparatory artworks are basically studies and experiments towards a final canvas - however they may never make it to canvas and/or the final canvas may bear no relation to the preparatory artworks - these pieces however in our opinion constitute works of art in their own right and are fine examples of the painting and drawing skills of Guy Denning and constitute a very affordable way to own an original piece.
Have put your name down on the list for 5/11 - should be a GREAT show,
best wishes
