Strange auction... Bonhams should hopefully provide the real results that Guy should get!

I actually thought there would be MUCH better results... you never really know how these things will go.. Maybe better with the bigger auction houses???

A reality check for sellers and an opportunity for buyers I hope.

I think 'Atrocity' and the 'Screaming head' we kinda right but still a little low on price. But having said that, when you add all the fees etc, someone spent a lot of money!!! The Blue Icarus had a 3-5K estimate anyway which is way too high for such a small piece! Not suprised that only went for £1400.

Strange auction... Bonhams should hopefully provide the real results that Guy should get! I agree - I think the client el at last nights auction were die hard street art collectors and not general art collectors. I think Guy's stuff has more kinship with right of centre than extreme right and Bonhams would be more neutral. I think Manchester Mike was given bum info from Dreweatts on the reserve price of his piece (hospital doors). I also think that the auction as a whole was 2nd division and if the same pieces would have been at Bonhams, would have fetched a higher price. As we are all GD collectors and rooting for him (and us) it is a little disappointing when the reserves are set too high which in turn detracts the bidders.

I said to Manchestermike last night that if he gives it back to RP to sell for him, it would probably go for £3000 without too much delay!

agreed it was a strange auction but certainly wasn't too bad! I think the poorer prices not just for denning but for other artists also were just typical of the market at the moment, which as we all know, isnt at its strongest. Its just typical that the only piece I bid on was the one to more than double its bloody reserve.. grrrr!!!
