Do you think I could get Bristol twinned with L.A?

Great to see all the faces on here again! Hello f**kers ;D Hello f**kers indeed! ;D Monkey Pump Varnish!! Chuffin 'eck what a powerful piece. C'mon Mr D tell us some more. Surely, a contender for the best Denning title for a painting. Anyone seen the new preparitory sketches in the 'drawing' section? Beautiful.

Wow those sketches sure are special!! some AMAZING work to come me thinks!!! And as for Monkey pumps varnish, Another amazing piece to come out of that studio tooked away in Bretagne. I have a feeling the wave that has swept us all away since last July is far from washed up!!! And is just getting bigger and bigger!!
Looking forward to seeing 08' unfold for Guy!
P.s Hi again all ... long time no speak!

Welcome back Dan. Totally agree with the Monkey pumps. The subject matter may be a little scary for my kids to be passing every day (if it what I think it is).
I think Guy seems to have the shackles off. No subject is out of reach. A new freedom for him.

Hey dan, great to see you back. You know bram, I think you're dead right there. The shackles appear to be well and truly off and he seems to be as prolific as ever. I gather his studio is still taking shape and needs much work but it gives him the space he needs to dedicate the time he does to his art. It must be bloody freezing out there at the moment! If Monkey Pumps Varnish is anything to go by it's going to be a superb year for GD and in turn those of us lucky to know of his work. I really like the composition of this piece too.

All happing so quick. USA (aug 09), Bonhams (october 08) Japan (?). Nothing yet on that neomodern group show he mentioned before xmas?
And he really seems to be pumping out the stuff at the moment. seems like there is a new piece to see every week.
does anyone know if there was any publicity on the LA show. Can't find anything on the net other than RP.
Antything at your end Photoxtc?

I say he hires TOP to come to America to get the word out!!!

..I'd swim the whole way if required ;D ..thanks guy's! I'd go to the States in a trice! ..would love to go, need some pennies! Seems a mixed bag in the UK, really surprised that more of his art does not feature here on the forum Guy's work seems to be the 'marmite' of the art world presently..haha! A good dose of appropriate PR ought to heighten people's awareness, Worldwide recognition to follow very shortly afterward methinks!

its true Guy is currently marmite (as rhodsey found out on the Banksy forum lol ) But I see that only as a good thing, after all many of the big names today are certainly 'marmitey' tracy emin, damien hirst etc plus Kline, Pollock, even Warhol and our very own Banksy have there critics . After all controversy is a major factor in art! and so long as there are enough of those that believe and admire, that stick with Guy to overcome the critics, there will be only one outcome!!! World domination.......... well maybe not so drastic but you know what i mean

World domination.......... well maybe not so drastic but you know what i mean Totally agree. Nothing, in this life, worth having is easy. I'd never go down the route of saying "so and so is nuts" because it's such an arrogant position to take. Although I do think a lot of the artists getting hyped up on the Banksy bandwagon are nuts... Too much of the post Banksy is too easy...it's not challenging in the way Guy's work is. That's probably because Guy's work is not in the same vein as Banksy....and that's why some love it, or some hate it...it's also why Guy's work will endure in the long term. What it does in the short term will depend very much on how it's managed, and I'm not sure about that at the moment. I know Guy has been around for a long time, but the recent explosion in interest (and price) needs to be nutured, not squeezed til the pips squeak. Ah, what am I being so negative about...it'll be fine!
